Over 20 years ago, I saw major oversights in the way most homes were built--not just the process, but also the methods and materials. I believed then, and still believe today, that people deserved a LOT better than what they were getting. I wanted people to enjoy homes that were healthier, needed less cleaning, less maintenance, and less fussing. Homes that were far more comfortable than they could envision, and homes they could feel good about passing down to the generations that followed them.

Our Design-Build Process

1 | Preliminary Design
We start by exploring our clients’ vision & budget, then evaluation of their lot. From there we contact one or more designers to find the best fit for our client, then collaborate as a team to create and approve an initial concept and “first pass” pricing.
2 | Design & Pricing
This phase is where the heavy lifting is being done, as our clients’ dream comes to life on paper. You finalize the construction drawings with feedback from us and specialists as needed in structural engineering, HVAC design, and interior finishes. R-Value produces a complete set of Specifications, selections are finalized, then we meet with our client to review our final project pricing: a fixed price proposal.
3 | Construction & Completion
With a signed construction agreement and financing in place, you make any final edits to the prints while we move forward with permits and construction. Throughout the build, we conduct regular onsite meetings and maintain open communication with you and our clients to ensure every detail aligns with the vision. Even after move-in, we check in and provide support to ensure superb client satisfaction.

    1. 1 Corinthians 10:31 inspires our passionate commitment to excellence. This commitment is demonstrated in the amazing performance of each home, our excitement to build the best home for our clients, and continuing to learn and improve.

    2. Luke 16:10 challenges us to have integrity in everything, especially the small details. So we do the right thing, even if nobody will ever know. We don’t conceal or varnish the truth, but quickly admit errors--so that they can be corrected.

    3. Philippians 2:4 guides our interaction with others, and our decision making process, so that we are respectful team players. We consider the needs of others before our personal needs, seek to make our Trade Partners’ jobs easier, and take extreme ownership of everything within our sphere of influence.

    4. Matthew 22:39 informs our meticulous attention to our client’s needs. We make them feel like they are the only ones we are working for, completing their homes on time and on budget (just like we would want our home built).

Our Core Values at Work

We apply meticulous attention to our client’s needs. Frequently our clients are not just health conscious, but extremely sensitive to environmental concerns such as mold growth or air quality. One recent client will be in the hospital if she is near a trace of mold growth. As such she and her husband are uber concerned about an unexpected moisture. During winter, some boxes of siding were moved in their unheated garage. After a few days of above freezing temps, some of the ice inside began to melt. So did our client’s confidence in the building envelope. Although entirely unnecessary, we added an additional WRB and flashing to the home, to ease her concerns, and be triplely sure this home would not aggravate her fragile health.
